The aim of this study is to learn more about swallowing in people recovering from COVID-19 infection.
Participating in the study involves two sessions (one virtual, one in-person), each approximately 30 minutes in length, taking place at WentworthHalton X-ray and Ultrasound Clinic in Hamilton.
We will be collecting the following information
• Brief medical history
• Tongue strength: Participants will press on an air-filled bulb with their tongue
• Cough strength: Participants will cough as hard as they can into a small handheld device
• Water swallow screening: Participants will swallow water from a cup
• Video x-ray swallowing study: Participants will swallow thin and thickened liquids mixed with barium under X-ray in order to see their swallow (this is a routine clinical test for people who have swallowing difficulties).
